** IMPORTANT CHANGES TO ROUTINE because this is a 4 day week (Friday is a holiday), next week is a full week, but the next week is only 2 day week due to Thanksgiving,  We are covering 2 stories in these 3 weeks rather than the usual 1 story per week because the PB skill pages contain difficult material (possessives, pronoun possessives) and the stories are long.

THE LANDFORM PROJECTS WERE AWESOME!!  SO MUCH CREATIVITY :)  Good job everyone!!
1.  Excel Homework #64:  Your child had ample time (45 minutes) to finish in class.  If your child wasn't able to finish work at school, please have him/her finish math at home.  PLEASE correct your child's work at home.  If you find incorrect answers, please guide him/her to the correct answer.  WHEN the ENTIRE paper is finished and completely correct, please sign both sides and have your child put it in his/her "Organizer" in the Homework section for the return trip to school.  After papers are recorded and corrected, I recycle them at school.  HINT:  If you find any math papers in your child's "Organizer" they have not been turned in.   Please empty the "Completed Work" section of your child's "Organizer" EVERY DAY.
2.  Dogzilla  This week's spelling packet is due this THURSDAY, 11/10/11 (This week only because Friday is a holiday.)  You can locate this packet in the "Homework" section of your child's "Organizer."  Please sign each page when it is completed correctly and keep all pages stapled together.  Spelling Test on Thursday 11/10.   ***The little writing assignment on one of the pages isn't required.
3.   *IMPORTANT CHANGE THIS WEEK ONLY:  Study Dogzilla Summary We're spending 6 DAYS  (this week and 2 days of next week) on this story, so the comprehension test is Tuesday, 11/15.  Study the summary Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Monday until NEXT TUESDAY (11/15) and TURN the summary in on TUESDAY, 11/15, the day of the test.
4Literature Circle Job due Weds., 11/9 **BRING JOB AND BOOK:  Your child brought home a Literature Circle last week (Homework Section of his/her"Organizer").  Be sure your child brings his/her completed Literature Circle Job and Book on WEDNESDAY at 7:55, since we start Literature Circle about 8:05.  Give your child time to practice reading the report, so he/she is ready to read it to his/her group tomorrow.
5.  Correct Math Test Excel #9  Students who turn in a corrected test tomorrow will get a treat.  Please look at the attached key. and have your child correct the test.  The key is attached to the back.  If there are spelling errors (labels) please have your child correct the words.  Spelling is not marked wrong but should be fixed.  Have your child write labels on any problem he/she missed (ie 3 total people, About 100 notes, etc).  Labels are marked 1/2 off.  If your child missed the last problem on the back, please have him/her write a story problem using the information in the story (ie NO "if" questions because you can not introduce numbers that are not in the story.)  Be sure that he/she has a capital at the beginning of the question and a question mark at the end.  Help your child come up with one of the suggestions on the key. Be sure to help your child on the back and with the "Create Your Own Problem" at the end of the test, and do several problems to be sure your child understands the process.
6.  Correct Theme 2 Reading Test  Your child took this test on Friday, 11/4.  The key is attached to the back of the test.  Please guide your child to the correct answers so that he/she learns from his/her mistakes.  In this way, they learn and are prepared for the next test :) Tests are due sometime this week.
7.  Correct Noun/Verb Test:  Your child took this test on 10/28.  Most students passed, but those who didn't need to correct their tests and return them this week.
